Description
Four configurations, as your child grows.
The Maxi-Cosi Kani supports your child’s growth through four configurations: rear-facing, forward-facing with a harness, and belt-positioning booster use with or without the backrest. Its narrow shape helps you plan rear-seat space, while adjustable settings keep pace with growth. Moving to the next mode depends on the limits and fit requirements in the Canadian manual.
At a glance
- 4 modes: from harness to booster
- 10 positions: headrest and harness
- 5 positions: recline
Adjustments that keep pace with growth.
Raise the headrest with one hand through ten positions; the integrated harness adjusts without rethreading. Five recline settings let you select an approved position for your child and the mode in use. The magnetic ClipQuick chest clip makes everyday harness fastening easier.

From a backrest to a backless booster.
Once your child meets the backless booster requirements, a one-hand release lets you remove the backrest. In booster mode, the vehicle’s lap-and-shoulder belt restrains your child. One-click UAS connectors help with installation in permitted configurations; they do not replace the seat belt that holds the child in booster mode.

The details, at a glance.
- Rear-facing: 2.3–18 kg and 48–102 cm (5–40 lb; 19–40 in).
- Forward-facing with harness: 10–30 kg and 74–125 cm (22–65 lb; 29–49 in).
- High-back booster: 18–45 kg and 110–132 cm (40–100 lb; 43–52 in).
- Backless booster: 18–45 kg and 110–145 cm (40–100 lb; 43–57 in).
The manual calls for rear-facing use until its height or weight limit is reached, followed by forward-facing harness use until its limit is reached. Reaching the next mode’s minimum weight alone is not enough. Head position, harness fit and belt fit requirements also apply.
Comfort, care and size
Two removable BPA-free cup holders keep drinks close by. Faux-leather details and a padded cover provide a finished look. For the documented Designer Black, Authentic Green, Authentic Truffle and Authentic Black colours, EcoCare fabrics use 100% recycled fibres and are machine washable and dryer safe according to their care label.
Listed dimensions are approximately 59.7 × 43.7 × 59.7 cm (length × width × height), with a weight of about 10.8 kg. The narrow design can help with side-by-side installations, but fitting three seats depends on your vehicle and the other restraints. Includes one Kani seat and its two cup holders in your selected colour. Feature illustrations show Designer Black.
Frequently asked questions
Can I turn the seat forward-facing at 10 kg?
The minimum weight alone is not enough. The manual calls for rear-facing use until its height or weight limit is reached, followed by compliance with every forward-facing requirement.
Do both booster modes have the same height limit?
No. High-back booster use is for 110–132 cm; backless use is for 110–145 cm. Both require a weight of 18–45 kg and correct seat belt positioning.
Will three Kani seats fit in every vehicle?
No. The approximately 43.7 cm width may help, but each installation must be checked in your vehicle, including buckle access and each restraint’s instructions.
When must I switch from UAS to the vehicle belt?
For forward-facing harness use, the manual limits UAS installation to a child weighing 20 kg (45 lb). Above this, use the vehicle seat belt as instructed. The top tether remains required in this mode.
What is included?
One Kani seat in your selected colour and two removable cup holders. Accessories for other models are not included.
Are the fabrics machine washable?
Yes for the documented Designer Black, Authentic Green, Authentic Truffle and Authentic Black colours, following the care label. The exact fabric specification for Authentic Sport remains unconfirmed.
